Four Orange County singers have been chosen to be among 10 Americans to sing in a chorus under German conductor Helmut Rilling in a “Live from Lincoln Center” PBS broadcast scheduled for Oct. 14.
Mezzo-sopranos Sherry Paine and Karen Anacker, tenor Alvin Brightbill and baritone Gordon Paine will join Rilling’s choral group, the Stuttgart Bach Choir (Gaechinger Kantorei), in what is billed as the American premiere of the “Requiem per Rossini,” composed by 15 Italian composers, including Giuseppi Verdi, who instigated the project.
Gordon Paine teaches at Cal State Fullerton; Sherry Paine, his wife, teaches at Lanterman Developmental Center in Pomona.
Anacker is a member of the Irvine Camerata. Brightbill is a professor of choral music at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo.
The 10 Americans will appear with Rilling at Avery Fisher Hall in New York.
