La Habra’s Moreno Has a Big Night
Senior quarterback Mark Moreno passed for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead La Habra High School to a 30-3 victory over Bolsa Grande at La Habra Stadium Friday night.
Moreno’s one-yard run and 17-yard touchdown pass to Joe Garcia highlighted the Highlanders’ 20-point second quarter en route to a 20-3 halftime lead.
Moreno was seven of 12 for 108 yards, and finished the night with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Wayne Bergquist in the fourth quarter, stretching La Habra’s lead to 27-3. That final score was set up on a 76-yard run by Jeff Besinaiz, who gained 89 yards in seven carries.
The Highlanders also received a strong effort from Mark Brown, who scored the first touchdown for La Habra (2-0) on a one-yard run and gained 67 yards in 15 carries.
Bolsa Grande’s only score came on a 30-yard field goal by Sonny Nguyen on the last play of the first half. The Matadors (0-2) have been outscored, 75-3, in their two games this year.
