Troy Names Ilertsen as Baseball Coach
Dane Ilertsen, an assistant coach at three Orange County high schools for the past nine years, has been named varsity baseball coach at Troy High School.
Ilertsen, 35, succeeds Dan Robinson, who resigned after the 1989 season but will continue as the school’s pitching coach.
Ilertsen, who played football at Valencia, later was drafted by the Padres and played in San Diego’s minor league system from 1976-80, reaching the team’s double-A affiliate for two seasons before being released.
He was an assistant coach at El Dorado for three seasons before moving to Valencia in 1984, where he became an assistant for five years. Last year, Ilertsen was an assistant at Troy and a resource specialist at the school.
