Actress Ruby Dee--who’s appearing this summer in the Spike Lee film “Do the Right Thing”--will portray American folklorist Zora Neale Hurston in “Zora Is My Name” for PBS’ “American Playhouse” series. The program (which will be taped Thursday at KCET for broadcast next February during Black History Month) was adapted by Dee from Hurston’s works. Co-starring are Oscar Brown Jr., Louis Gossett Jr., Roger E. Mosley, Beah Richards, Lynn Whitfield and Flip Wilson.
