James Z. Berson has been named district sales and marketing manager for the Inland Empire office of Developers Marketing Associates, a San Diego-based firm specializing in residential sales and marketing.

Investment Firms

Shuwa Investments Corp. has announced the addition of Dana D. Yates to its staff as assistant general manager for the leasing division. She will oversee all its marketing and leasing activities. Shuwa is located in Century City.

Dana Stiebel is a new staff member at The RREEF Funds. As district manager for the Pasadena office, Stiebel will be in charge of the management and leasing of six RREEF owned properties in the area. RREEF manages closed-end real estate funds. It purchases shopping centers, industrial and commercial properties, and apartment buildings as investments for pension funds and separate account clients.

Property Managers

Maria L. Pietroforte has been named San Diego regional property manager for CDS Management Co. Pietroforte will supervise the property management, maintenance, marketing and leasing of 980 apartment units. CDS is a member of The Sickels Group.

Santa Monica-based Watt Management Co. has appointed Edward F. Collins marketing director. He is responsible for the leasing of the twin Watt Plaza Towers in Century City.

Toy R. Gregory III has joined the Los Angeles-based Morlin Management Corp. as director of leasing. Gregory will be directly responsible for leasing and marketing all existing vacant space in buildings managed by the company.

The Newport Beach developer Donahue Schriber has announced that Jim Paliungas will lead its management and operations team of The Esplanade, a shopping center in Oxnard, as its general manager.

James A. Rosten, Los Angeles district manager for Coldwell Banker Real Estate Management Services, has been named vice president of the national company . Rosten will continue to supervise the management of its properties in Los Angeles’ central business district, the San Gabriel Valley and the mid-Wilshire area.

Civil Engineers

ACCOLADES: William B. Rick, chairman of Rick Engineering Co., has been selected a Life Council member of the Urban Land Institute, a national land use planning, educcation and research institution. Rick Engineering is a full-service engineering firm based in San Diego.

Daniel McNaughton, a principal in the engineering firm of Blaylock-Willis & Associates in San Diego, has been elected president of the Structural Engineers Assn. of San Diego.

Christopher C. Martin has been named vice chairman of the Southern California Transportation Action Committee. Martin is managing partner of Albert C. Martin & Associates, an 83-year-old architectural and engineering firm with offices in downtown Los Angeles, Irvine and Tokyo. The organization is dedicated to the building of public awareness and support for the improvement of transportation in many of the Southland counties.

Mortgage Firms

First Interstate Mortgage Co. has announced three additions to its Pasadena office: Karla A. Webb, vice president and production officer; Catherine L. Simms, vice president and production officer in the health-care financing group, and Roger H. Alexander, vice president and production officer.

Mickey Sholdar has joined Trinity Mortgage Co. as loan production manager. Based in Arcadia, Trinity offers conventional and government financing.

Brokers

The Beverly Hills Board of Realtors has celebrated its 67th birthday and elected its officers and directors for 1990. Frank Symons will lead the board as president.

C. Ross Acheson has been elected president of the Anaheim Board of Realtors. Achesonis broker-owner of Realty World-Carl Rau Realty.

Christopher williams has been appointed manager of Bud Petrick Real Estate’s West Los Angeles office. The agency’s headquarters are in Pacific Palisades.

Pasadena-based Herbert Hawkins Realtor has made Marilyn Evans director of marketing.

Architects

Los Angeles-based POD Inc. has appointed Brian Mitchell principal in charge and Dennis Hickok principal in charge of design. Mitchell will continue to provide administrative and technical direction for all projects, while Hickok will have sole responsibility for all aspects of project design, from concept development through construction administration.

Ronald S. Baldwinson has been elected president and managing partner of Gordon, Friedman, Baldwinson Associates. He heads the Encino-based firm’s entertainment complex projects.

Whisler-Patri in San Francisco has moved two top staff members to its Los Angeles office: Rodger Vorhees, executive vice president, will serve the firm’s Southern California clients as principal in charge, and Lisa Bottom will be its director of interior design.

James S. Sterling has been named associate principal and director of business development of RTKL Associates’ Los Angeles office. Sterling will be in charge of the firm’s new project development and client relations.

Rossetti Associates of Santa Monica has named Bryan Croeni an associate. His current projects include the design for Homart Development’s Glendale City Center, supervision of site studies for various Kaiser Permanente facilities, and in-house training and development of the design staff.

Michael Heinrich has been promoted to associate at Widom Wein Cohen. The Santa Monica-based firm provides architecture, interior design and planning services to health care and corporate clients.

Christine Meyer has been named executive director of the Los Angeles chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

Lenders

Pacific National Bank has named Art Hatfield regional vice president. Hatfield will concentrate on loan originations for the bank’s new office in Santa Ana.

Consultants

San Diego-based R&L; Consulting Group has added a new sales and marketing division. Joyce Toby and David Waitley will direct the sales operations. Toby has been appointed vice president of new home sales and Waitley will be director of sales and acting manager for the division’s on-site sales operations.

Jim Taylor has joined Karsten Realty Advisors in Los Angeles as vice president. He will be responsible for on-site project representation for the Getty Fine Arts Center.

Craig Lawson has been made a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Los Angeles Convention and Exhibition Center Authority, which oversees the financing and construction of the Convention Center expansion project. Lawson is the director of public affairs for C. W. Cook Co. Inc., a land planning, civil engineering and public affairs consulting firm in West Los Angeles.
