An 11-month-old Buena Park boy who had been playing in the back yard of his home wandered through a swimming pool security gate and drowned Saturday, authorities said.
Thomas Lorey was discovered by his father about 12:15 p.m. floating face down in the family’s pool at 8319 Mars Drive and was rushed by paramedics to Humana Hospital-West Anaheim, where he was pronounced dead at 1:12 p.m.
The boy’s father, Michael Lorey, told authorities that Thomas had been playing in the back yard with his sister and wandered away.
It was not immediately known if the gate to the pool was locked at the time of the accident.
Lorey pulled the boy from the water and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which was unsuccessfully continued by paramedics.
The family declined to discuss the accident Saturday.
