The driver of a car speeding on the Antelope Valley Freeway in Newhall was killed this morning in a fiery crash when the car went out of control and hit a guardrail, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The identity of the driver, who was burned beyond recognition in the 1:30 a.m. accident, was not immediately known, Officer Ralph Elvira said.
The car had been heading northbound at an estimated 90 m.p.h. when it went out of control near Placerita Canyon Road and struck the center divider, Elvira said. The car then crossed the northbound lanes, hit the shoulder guardrail, overturned and burst into flames.
