Four robbers working independently of each other held up three banks and a savings and loan association Monday in a span of three hours, according to a San Diego police spokesman.
The men handed notes to tellers demanding money and escaped with varying amounts of cash, said police spokesman Bill Robinson.
The first robbery was at the Home Federal Savings & Loan branch in the 300 block of Washington Street in Mission Hills, where a robber escaped with $834 at 9:30 a.m., according to Robinson.
At 10:04 a.m., another man robbed the Bank of America branch in the 700 block of University Avenue, escaping with $1,001. And, at 11 a.m., a holdup at the Coast Savings bank in the 4000 block of Governor Drive netted a robber $1,057, according to Robinson.
Finally, a fourth man robbed the Home Savings bank in the 100 block of West Ash Street, escaping with $392, Robinson said. Police made no arrests in connection with the robberies, he added.
