Famed treasure hunter Mel Fisher appeared hot on the trail of another big find as members of his crew in Ft. Pierce, Fla., showed off doubloons and artifacts recovered from a Spanish treasure fleet that sank in a hurricane in 1715. “Maybe they’ve found the trail that will hopefully lead to chests of emeralds,” said Taffi Fisher, Fisher’s daughter. “We still have about six weeks left in the season.” The treasure was located in about 25 feet of water a little over a half-mile off Douglass Memorial park in St. Lucie County.
