Western Union: The Upper Saddle River, N.J., firm reported a second-quarter loss of $4.9 million, compared to a loss of $3 million in the 1988 period. Revenue also declined 32% to $159 million. For the first six months of 1989, the firm lost $5.1 million, an improvement over the 1988 period’s $628-million loss, which included $603 million in writeoffs and other restructuring charges. The 1989 results reflect revenue and expenses associated with discontinued service offerings.
