Wallenberg Day Declared

WASHINGTON — President Bush signed a resolution Thursday designating Oct. 5 as Raoul Wallenberg Recognition Day. Wallenberg was a wealthy Swedish diplomat in Hungary during World War II who is credited with rescuing thousands of Jews from Nazi roundups by issuing them fictitious Swedish credentials.
