Former Sen. William Proxmire (D-Wis.), who during his years in the Senate exposed federal waste and overspending though his “Golden Fleece Award,� joins the CNBC cable network today as a Washington commentator. Proxmire will deliver commentaries twice weekly on a wide range of economic issues, and at least once a month he’ll zap someone with a Golden Fleece Award. His comments will be part of CNBC’s “Money Wheel� midday bloc of programming. Proxmire was elected to the Senate in 1957 and retired last January. CNBC is NBC’s new Consumer News and Business Channel.
