Typhoon Leaves 22 Dead in Philippines

MANILA — Typhoon Gordon roared toward China on Monday after a destructive sweep across the northern Philippines that killed at least 22 people and left thousands homeless, relief agencies and news reports said.
A spokesman for the Manila weather bureau said that the typhoon, with diminished winds of 80 miles per hour, was traveling toward southern China.
