Dede Demet, 15, of West Allis, Wis., placed first in the 70-kilometer women’s road race at the world junior cycling championships at Moscow, the first road race medal by a U.S. woman in junior world championship competition.

Jessica Grieco, 15, of Teaneck, N.J., was second.
