East Germany won the two-day European Cup A-final for national decathlon teams at Toensberg, Norway, with 24,081 points.
West Germany was runner-up with 23,693 points and the Soviet Union placed third with 23,572 points.
Christian Plaziat of France, who topped the world ranking last season with 8,512 points, was top scorer in the meet with 8,290. Olympic champion Christian Schenk of East Germany, who won in Seoul with 8,488 points, was second with 8,250 points.
