A 53-year-old truck driver from Los Alamitos was arrested in connection with the shooting death of his son-in-law, who was found dead on his front lawn in Orange, police said Friday.
James Rovida Jr., who is self-employed, is being held in Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder, according to Dave Hill, an Orange police detective.
The body of Rovida’s son-in-law, Robert Brock, was found on the front lawn of a Quincy Avenue home that Brock shared with his sister shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday, after neighbors heard gunshots and notified police, Hill said.
Hill said investigators are looking into allegations that Brock had been abusive to his wife, Catherine, who was Rovida’s daughter.
Brock suffered two gunshot wounds, Hill said, possibly from a medium-caliber pistol. Police arrested Rovida hours later, partially on information from neighbors and Brock’s sister about a pickup truck that was seen leaving the scene just after the shooting, Hill said.
