Local News in Brief : Roofer Dies in Fall From Home Being Built

A 23-year-old roofer fell from a home under construction in Quartz Hill and died Friday, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
Jose Manuel Gutierrez, 23, suffered a broken neck after falling from a roof in a housing tract at 50th Street West and Avenue M-8 at 7:30 a.m., the spokesman said. Gutierrez died at the scene.
The death is being investigated as an industrial accident, the spokesman said.
