ON THE SIDELINES : Serwano Beats Tiger to Keep Title
SAN JOSE — Arthur Serwano of Richmond retained his U.S. Boxing Assn. junior-middlewight title and remained undefeated by scoring a unanimous decision Thursday night over Young Dick Tiger of Los Angeles.
Serwano, a native of Uganda, made his record 16-0-1 while Tiger, a nephew of the late world champion Dick Tiger, now is 26-8. The bout was held before 879 fans at the San Jose Civic Auditorium.
Earlier, USBA featherweight champ Lupe Gutierrez of San Jose knocked out Tony DeLaRosa of Mexico in the third round of a scheduled 10-round fight. Gutierrez is 21-2 with 16 KOs while his opponent dropped to 15-6.
