NATION : 4 Die in Atlanta Office Blasts, Fire
ATLANTA — A series of explosions and fire broke out today in an office building, killing at least four people and injuring dozens of others, authorities said.
One woman leaped from the sixth floor, and firefighters on ladders pulled several more office workers through broken windows as thick black smoked billowed around them.
The fire apparently was confined to the sixth floor of the 10-story building on Peachtree Street, the city’s main thoroughfare.
Police spokesman Keith Williams said four people were killed and at least 38 others injured, 24 of whom were taken to hospitals.
The fire began about 10:30 and was out shortly after noon.
