ST. LOUIS — Boxer William Guthrie, who was kept from competing for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team last summer because he failed a drug test, was arrested on a cocaine charge a day after he won his second professional bout.
Guthrie, 22, was being held on $50,000 bond on a charge of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute it. A preliminary hearing was set for next Friday.
Guthrie, a light heavyweight and formerly a top amateur boxer from St. Louis, defeated a boxer from Memphis, Tenn., on Wednesday to raise his record to 2-0. He was arrested on the cocaine charge on Thursday.
