NBC’s daytime series “Santa Barbara” and an episode of “L.A. Law”--in which a Chicano leaves East Los Angeles to become an attorney in the non-Latino world--won the 1989 Imagen Latino media-image awards Thursday for their strong portrayal of Latinos. The Legacy Group, which hands out the annual awards, also awarded honorable mention to episodes of “Falcon Crest” and “Tour of Duty” and the feature film, “Break of Dawn,” for their portrayals of Latinos. The awards were presented at ceremonies at the Beverly Hilton.
