JOPLIN, Mo. — A man who stunned doctors when he began breathing again 40 minutes after being declared dead from electrocution died Sunday evening without regaining consciousness, hospital officials said.
Jerry Middleswart, 47, was first declared dead Friday at St. John’s Regional Medical Center after the antenna he and six other men were attempting to put up at his Oswego, Kan., veterinary clinic touched a power line.
It is possible for a patient to revive after a long period of not breathing if cardiopulmonary resuscitation has been administered.
