UNLV Wins, Advances in NCAA Tourney
COLLEGE STATION, Tex. — James Margin hit a three-run triple in the second inning and Nevada-Las Vegas scored 10 unearned runs on nine Jackson State errors for a 13-2 victory in the NCAA Central Region baseball playoffs today.
Jackson State, a 23-3 loser to top seeded Texas A&M; Thursday night, was eliminated from the tournament. Nevada-Las Vegas, 1-1, will play the winner of today’s Texas A&M-Brigham; Young game.
Arkansas 8, G.W. 2
WATERBURY, Conn.--Troy Eklund drove in three runs on two hits and Greg D’Alexander had three hits, including two for extra bases, and two RBIs as top-seeded Arkansas defeated George Washington, 8-2, today in the second round of the NCAA Division I Northeast regional baseball tournament.
George Washington was eliminated with its second loss, while Arkansas plays the loser of today’s Arizona State-Penn game on Saturday.
Villanova 10, E. Carolina 6
GAINESVILLE, Fla.--East Carolina reliever John White walked four consecutive batters in the fifth inning, forcing home three runs, as Villanova eliminated the Pirates 10-6 today in the NCAA East Regional tournament.
