Triton Group: The La Jolla-based holding company reported an $837,000 loss for the first quarter ended April 30. The company reported a $2.1-million profit for the corresponding quarter a year earlier.
Revenue rose 22%, to $42 million, up from $35 million a year earlier. The revenue increase was generated largely by the acquisition of Western Sizzlin, a family dinner house chain that Triton acquired during the fourth quarter of the previous fiscal year. Triton linked the quarterly loss to expenses associated with the recent acquisition.
In addition to Western Sizzlin, Triton owns National Airmotive and Western Metal Lath.
