Simi Valley Man Arrested in Fake Theft

A Simi Valley man allegedly faked an armed robbery Monday at the gas station where he worked and botched an attempt to cover it up, Simi Valley police said.
Michael White, 20, told police that two men armed with handguns took the station’s cash and his personal jewelry, covering up the station’s surveillance cameras in the process, Lt. Neal Rein said.
But when police reviewed the videotape, it showed White covering a camera, Rein said.
White was arrested on suspicion of embezzlement, a felony, and filing a false police report, a misdemeanor, after police found $670 in cash and White’s jewelry in his car parked at 1st Street and Los Angeles Avenue, Rein said.
