An alleged gang member who was the first person convicted of violating the city’s new assault rifle ban was sentenced today to three months in prison.
Carlton Diggs, 20, of Rancho Cucamonga was originally arrested in connection with a robbery in the Fairfax District on April 12. A miltary-style M-1 carbine and three loaded 30-round banana clips for the weapon were found in the bed of Diggs’ pickup truck, City Atty. James K. Hahn said. The three-month term was added to a separate three-month sentence Diggs was given for violating parole.
