Santa Ana : Suspect in $240 Robbery Caught After Foot Chase
A man suspected of robbing $240 from a clerk in a Montgomery Ward store Tuesday was caught after leading police on a foot chase and trying to hide under a parked car, police said.
Police identified the suspect as Kenneth John Biddle, 27, of Santa Ana, a furniture mover.
Police said Biddle entered the store at 17th and Bristol streets about 12:30 p.m., went up to a clerk, simulated a gun under his shirt and demanded cash. He was given money but then was confronted by other clerks, who tried to hold him until police arrived.
Biddle broke free and fled outside to the rear of the store, where Officers Mike Darrow and Bruce Leamer saw the suspect run into a residential area and chased him.
Biddle was found hiding under a parked car at 1300 W. Anahurst Place, was arrested without a struggle and is in Orange County Jail on suspicion of robbery, police said.
