Governor’s Letter
Cheers to the governor for his blast at The Times’ spending philosophy. In several recent editorials, The Times could hardly contain its glee that Prop. 13 might be overturned. Never mind the old folks it saved from being taxed out of their homes, and never mind that those you claim are unfairly taxed when buying a new home were not forced to come here.
The Times acts as if paying whatever amount of taxes the government says it wants is the Eleventh Commandment. Government will spend all it gets, and more, wasting a portion, then threaten the public with cuts in vital aid and services if they dare to oppose giving it more for the latest wealth redistribution schemes politicians dream up to garner votes.
If The Times is so all-fired happy with paying ever-increasing taxes based solely on run away “assessed value†of homes, you are welcome to pay mine!
