La Jolla
Police arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and attempted robbery Sunday night after two German tourists were confronted as they walked to their La Jolla hotel room, San Diego police said.
Detective Rick Shaw said a man grabbed one of the women’s purse at 8:40 p.m. but fled after the second woman put up a fight when he tried to take her purse, Shaw said.
Ronald Robinson was arrested shortly before 9 p.m. as he walked toward the robbery scene, Shaw said. He said Robinson had some items from the woman’s purse in his possession.
Robinson, of the 7300 block of Margerum Avenue, was being held in County Jail Monday in lieu of $10,000 bail, a jail clerk said.
