Burglary Suspects Make It Easy on Deputies
Two men suspected of burglarizing a Newbury Park home Thursday didn’t have to be taken far after their car was pulled over by deputies--they stopped in front of a sheriff’s station, authorities said.
Tony Aguilar, 18, of Simi Valley and an unidentified 16-year-old San Fernando youth were arrested on suspicion of burglary after they pulled up at the Ventura County sheriff’s station at 2101 Olsen Road in Thousand Oaks at 10:30 a.m., said Deputy Jody Keller.
Three other men riding in the car were arrested and later released, she said.
A deputy was following the suspects’ red compact car and “the vehicle went right into the station, obviously not knowing it was a sheriff’s station,†Keller said.
“I should pull the tape of the radio. It would have said ‘you won’t believe this,’ †she said.
She said the suspects’ car was spotted three-quarters of a mile from the station by a deputy who had received a radio broadcast about the burglary, Keller said. The crime had been reported by a witness, who described the car to police.
Other deputies in the station came out to help in the arrests, she said.
Keller said she did not know how much was stolen from the residence on Brookside Road in Newbury Park.
