Heavyweight John Bray of Van Nuys recorded a decision victory Monday over Obie Sullivan in a three-round bout in the U. S. Amateur Boxing Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Bray, 18, a 1988 graduate of Van Nuys High, outpointed Sullivan on four of the five judges’ cards.
“It was a tough fight,” Bray said. It was a close fight, but I was more aggressive.”
Bray, 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, will fight Richard Allen today in a second-round bout.
