Slide Closes Road to Scenic Preserve
From Associated Press
CEDAR CITY, Utah — A massive mudslide blocked the main road to Cedar Breaks National Monument, stripped off a section of pavement half a mile long and continued to ooze downhill Monday, authorities said.
The slide, roughly half a mile long and half a mile wide, broke loose sometime during the night and sent mud and boulders cascading across State Road 14, Kim Morris of the state Department of Transportation said.
No injuries were reported, Morris said, and visitors to the monument were able to take other roads out.
