Aztecs Salvage One of Three Against Utah

San Diego State’s baseball team picked up a victory in the final game of a Western Athletic Conference tripleheader against Utah Sunday at SDSU’s Smith Field.
John Marshall (3-1) allowed four hits, struck out five and walked one for a 3-2 victory in the third game as SDSU third baseman Lance Pinnell was two for three with a double.
In the Aztecs’ 6-3 first-game loss, SDSU right fielder Billy Miller went three for four with one run and two RBIs, including a home run and a double.
In the second game, SDSU third baseman Tony Enomoto’s error allowed three Utah runs to score, contributing to the 6-2 loss. San Diego State is 16-12 overall and 2-2 in WAC play. Utah is 7-14 and 2-2.
The Aztecs play the Padres Thursday at 7 p.m. in an exhibition game at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium.
The University of San Diego was rained out of its game against Wisconsin and will play host to the Badgers in a doubleheader beginning at noon today.
MEN’S TENNIS
Joe McDonough’s 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory in No. 1 singles over Wichita State’s Jason Spehr enabled San Diego State to post a 4-3 victory against the Shockers in the UC Irvine tournament.
The Aztecs improved to 8-12. Wichita State fell to 6-6.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Sixteenth-ranked USD defeated Harvard, 6-0, in a nonconference match at USD.
USD’s Jennifer Larking, ranked No. 36 nationally in singles, defeated Michelle Dargomiescu, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1.
USD (15-4) travels to No. 12 Arizona Tuesday and No. 9 Arizona State Wednesday.
