Local News in Brief : Council OKs $1 Increase for Parking at Stadium
- Share via
The City Council on Tuesday approved a $1 hike in parking fees for baseball fans at Anaheim Stadium.
The rates, which had not been raised for 3 years, will go from $3 to $4 beginning with the California Angels preseason game March 31 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Parking for Rams games, concerts and motor sports events will remain $5 per car.
The increase in parking fees will put an extra $120,000 in the city coffers for the current fiscal year and another $275,000 next year, according to staff reports.
Stadium Manager Greg Smith said he wants to use the money to repair the parking lot, a job that will take several years at an estimated cost of $3.1 million.
Angels’ management had resisted the parking increase, fearing that it would push the cost of attending a game too high.
