One of two Los Angeles men convicted in the nearly $1-million smash-and-grab robbery of jewels from a Seattle gem store has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Superior Court Judge Susan Agid accepted the prosecutor’s recommendation for the exceptionally long sentence for Rudolph Sisson, 33. The standard sentencing range for armed robbery is from six to eight years in prison, according to Dan Donohoe, spokesman for the King County Prosecutor’s Office.

Sentencing for co-defendant Carl Lewis, 33, also of Los Angeles, has been delayed pending further information about his background, Donohoe said.

The two men, who were convicted last month, were the only suspects arrested for the Feb. 18, 1988, heist at Fox’s Gem Store in downtown Seattle.

The gems have never been recovered.
