Boys Find Test Tubes With Blood Residues
Three youths playing near a North Hollywood apartment complex found used test tubes containing blood residue Monday night, Los Angeles police said.
Lt. Stuart Maislin said the items had come from the Panorama Community Hospital in Panorama City and belonged to a man operating a pharmaceutical testing laboratory out of his home in the 5600 block of Colfax Avenue, near where the items were found. The youths found the items on top of a car, police said.
The youths--one 12-year-old and two 13-year-olds--hid the test tubes in their pockets and under their shirts. But one of the boys’ mothers found them and called police, Maislin said.
Investigators from the Los Angeles County Health Department and the Police Department’s hazardous materials squad are investigating the incident.
