President Bush on Gun Control
How does President George Bush equate his ever-so-sanctimonious “pro-life” declarations with his opposition to any form of gun control (20,000 gun deaths annually in the U.S.) and his support of the murdering Contras?
The juxtaposition of two headlines (Part I, Feb. 17) says it all: “U.S. to Stand by Contras, Bush Vows” and “Bush Opposes Federal Ban on Assault Rifles.”
In light of the recent assault rifle slaughter of schoolchildren, the latter decision is especially revealing of the Bush commitment to “life,” as opposed to his National Rifle Assn. commitment.
Apparently once a fetus draws breath it’s on its own, and no longer deemed worthy of life-protection.
The hypocrisy is nauseating.
