LOCAL : Boyfriend Arrested in Ambush and Killing of Nurse Near Studio City
A man described as the boyfriend of a nurse who was ambushed and fatally shot in the hills above Studio City, apparently after she was tricked into stopping her car to give medical aid, was arrested this morning on suspicion of murder, Los Angeles police said.
Police identified the suspect as Giles Aubery, 53, of Los Angeles.
The suspect was arrested shortly after 9 a.m. at his wife’s home in southwest Los Angeles and was taken to the North Hollywood police station, officers said.
Lucille Marie Warren, 40, of Inglewood, the divorced mother of two teen-agers, was shot at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 7400 block of Woodrow Wilson Drive. She had been employed as a night nurse at a nearby home in the exclusive hillside neighborhood.
Police said Warren apparently halted her car when she saw a man who appeared to have collapsed in the street and got out to see if she could help. The man then stood up and shot her repeatedly. She died four hours later.
From the beginning of the investigation, police said they suspected that Warren may have known her killer.
