Monday marks the observance of Presidents’ Day, a holiday created to celebrate both Washington’s and Lincoln’s birthdays. It is a federal holiday that falls on the third Monday of each February. Actually, Lincoln’s birthday falls on Feb. 12 and Washington’s birthday on Feb. 22.

Open Monday: Most stores. Rapid Transit District buses will follow regular schedules.

Closed Monday: All government offices, courts, banks, post offices, stock and commodity exchanges, libraries, schools and many businesses.
