P.M. BRIEFING : Stanley Hillman New Conrail Chief
- Share via
PHILADELPHIA — Conrail today elected Stanley E. G. Hillman, former chairman and chief executive officer of Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, as its new president and chief executive officer.
The Philadelphia-based freight railroad’s board of directors said the move was an interim measure while it searches for a permanent replacement to Richard D. Sanborn, who died Sunday. The board also declared a 30-cent-per-share dividend, payable March 15, to shareholders of record March 1. Hillman, a member of Conrail’s board since 1980, was the top executive at Illinois Central from 1976 to ’78 and was president of its parent company, IC Industries, from 1971 to ’77.
