South County : Crash Victim Identified as Riverside Man

A Riverside real estate agent has been identified as the victim of a fatal car accident on Coast Highway near Laguna Beach, authorities said Friday.
CHP Officer Mark Mudrick said Glenn C. Calvert, 64, was killed when a man driving north on Coast Highway about 2 miles south of Cameo Shores lost control of his Corvette, spun into the southbound lanes and smashed into Calvert’s Mercury Cougar.
Calvert was pronounced dead on arrival at Hoag Hospital.
Walid M. Albinali, 22, of Irvine, the driver of the Corvette, remained hospitalized Friday with a chest injury and facial cuts. Mudrick said that the accident, which occurred about 1:10 p.m., was caused by the weather and that Albinali was not cited. Police are still investigating the accident, Mudrick said. Two other vehicles were involved in the accident, but neither driver was hurt.
