Local News in Brief : Vehicle Permits Restricted

The Avalon City Council has imposed a 90-day moratorium on the issuance of new vehicle permits in the city. No new permits will be issued for automobiles, trucks, motorcycles or golf carts. The only exceptions will be for motorcycles and golf carts in retail inventory.
The moratorium, approved Tuesday by a 4-1 vote, will allow the city to complete studies of proposed development, impact on streets and roads, and alternatives to increasing the numbers of vehicles on the few streets in the one-square-mile island city.
