Over at NBC, the news division is adding reporters and producers to beef up its overseas news-gathering, while cutting back on support staff such as secretaries and finance officers. NBC News president Michael Gartner said NBC will open a new bureau (in a city yet to be determined) and add two overseas correspondents. Last month, NBC bought nearly 38% interest in Visnews, a subsidiary of Reuters that is the world’s largest TV news agency. Gartner said that will be a major help in increasing the overseas news-gathering efficiency of the division.
