Woman Is Killed in Truck Accident
A passenger in a tractor-trailer heading east on Interstate 8 on Monday afternoon was killed when the truck struck a guardrail at Viejas Grade in Alpine. The truck went partly over the edge of the road and burst into flames, a coroner’s spokesman said.
The name of the victim, a woman in her mid-30s, was not released.
The driver, 38-year-old Scott Johnson of Santee, told California Highway Patrol officers that he hit the guardrail.
