Prime-time cable TV programs became eligible for Emmy Awards last year, and now the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences have opened Emmy competition to original daytime cable programming for the first time. Cable industry executives and personnel who work in daytime TV also may apply for membership in the two academies. The Daytime Emmy Awards will be presented June 29 in New York, with NBC carrying the ceremonies.
