5 Injured in Head-On Collision After Driver Turns in Wrong Lane
Five people were injured, two of them seriously, when a San Francisco man turned into the wrong lane of traffic on Coast Highway in Corona del Mar shortly after midnight Saturday, colliding with an oncoming pickup truck.
Jon Notman, 43, turned westbound from the parking lot of the Studio Cafe into eastbound lanes, Newport Beach Police Sgt. Charles Olmstead said. Notman’s 1988 Chevrolet Corsica collided head-on with a Toyota pickup driven by Gregory Hosey, 64, of Orange.
Both Notman and Hosey were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, Olmstead said.
Notman and his wife, Katherine, 38, were in serious condition Saturday at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center.
Another passenger in Notman’s car, Richard Dorian, 42, of Huntington Beach, was in good condition at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
Hosey and his passenger, Bradford Trulin, 21, of Laguna Beach, were treated at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian and released.
