Long Beach : Development Fees for Parks to Be Considered
The Long Beach City Council will soon consider a proposal to impose new housing development fees intended to raise money for park and recreation facilities that would be used by the new residents.
Under the proposal, a developer would have to pay the city $1,994 for each new mobile home, $2,712 for each new unit of duplex or multifamily housing, and $3,510 for each new single-family home constructed. The payments would be used to acquire and develop additional parkland needed to serve the residents brought into the city by the new housing.
The proposal will be discussed at a Jan. 24 committee meeting and at a Jan. 31 public hearing.
