KFAC-FM (92.3) continues to broadcast classical music, amid continuing rumors that it might be sold. However on Saturday, Los Angeles will lose its only AM classical music station when KFAC-AM turns over its frequency (1330) to Spanish-language KWKW. A complicated three-way deal resulted in KFAC-AM selling its 1330 frequency and transmitter site to KWKW, which in turn sold the 1300 frequency and transmitter site to Pacific Rim Broadcasters, a group headed by one-time KFAC-AM and -FM owner George Fritzinger. Pacific Rim plans to begin broadcasting a variety of Asian programing on 1300 within the next few weeks under the new call letters, KAZN (“K-Asian”).
