The Department of Insurance scheduled a hearing for four Travelers Insurance affiliates to answer why they should not be forced to renew private passenger auto policies in California under terms of Proposition 103. The public hearing will be held at the State Building in San Francisco at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The department served a notice of non-compliance Friday on Travelers Indemnity Co., Charter Oak Fire Insurance Co., Travelers Indemnity Co. of America and Phoenix Insurance Co. It charged the four companies with violating provisions of Proposition 103 that prohibit insurers from not renewing auto policies except in cases of fraud or nonpayment.
