Arcadia : Party Ordinance Proposed
Under an ordinance introduced last week, residents who hold loud or disruptive parties that prompt more than one police response would have to reimburse the city for costs incurred in curtailing the disturbance.
Loud parties bring complaints year-round, especially during the football season, said Police Chief Neal Johnson. Property owners or those responsible for the gatherings would be liable for such costs as police expenses and any property damage.
Mayor Robert Harbicht said he favors the proposed ordinance. “This gives us a tool to control what sometimes may be a dangerous and unruly situation,” he said.
The ordinance is expected to be considered at the council’s Jan. 3 meeting.
